In September 2007, in response to the increasing demand for the Winston Preparatory School New York school program and growing need beyond the New York City campus to assist families and provide education for students who learn differently, our Norwalk, Connecticut campus opened its doors. Following Norwalk’s successful launch, Winston Prep responded to local interest by developing three additional new campuses, reaching a total of five in the NY metropolitan area, and allowing enrollment to increase from fifty students two decades ago to more than five hundred today.
The Winston Preparatory Schools are a non-profit group lead by a volunteer governing body and a dynamic leadership team committed to the idea that all students learn differently and that they can best achieve their potential as productive members of society when immersed in a challenging program designed to match individual strengths and needs. WPS carries forward this commitment to student and family aspirations with a transition and internship program for graduates who are college capable but may need additional skill development before taking on independent workforce or higher education placements.
The Leadership and the Board of Trustees of Winston Preparatory School are thrilled and honored to be able to serve families and students in need throughout the region and are now considering other areas where this need may also exist. Winston Prep believes that with careful attention to the deeply held shared value of a successful education for everyone it has mastered how to replicate and adapt its model in a manner that both supports our current campuses and gives us confidence we can continue this development nationally, and internationally.
