Winston Preparatory School is a co-ed day school for 4th through 12th grade students with learning differences such as dyslexia, nonverbal learning disabilities, expressive or receptive language disorders, and executive functioning problems. Our mission is to facilitate independence and meaningful participation of students with specific learning disorders through a Continuous Feedback System that develops skill acquisition and the Qualities of a Sustainable and Independent Learner. We also seek to influence the field of education with research and implementation models that achieve these ends, in this way.
 
Our unique educational program for middle and upper school students with learning differences is designed to develop essential skills and challenge their strengths. Our highly successful “Focus Program,” offers each student a daily period of one-to-one instruction concentrating on his or her greatest area of need. The implementation of the program has allowed us to further personalize instruction and strategies so that our students can better understand themselves, as well as verbalize their needs to become independent learners.
Focus teachers provide individualized remediation for students struggling with a wide range of learning differences while coordinating and facilitating consistent communication between classroom teachers and families. The nature of the position allows for someone with a varied background. In addition to those with an education or special education background, our Focus faculty includes reading specialists, speech therapists, learning specialists, school psychologists, and social workers, as well as former lawyers and copy editors.
 
The successful candidate will be a highly professional, creative thinker who is flexible and works well within a team environment. Candidates must also have excellent writing and communication skills.

The salary range for this position is $55,000-$70,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience.
