Summer Learning Program
Following the Winston Prep model, our Transitions summer learning program supports students ages 17-21+, with learning differences such as dyslexia, executive functioning difficulties (ADHD), or NVLD. Our programs focuses on strengthening academic skills, promoting social-emotional growth, and developing personalized goals. Keep your child engaged over the summer while equipping them with the tools they need to achieve real-world success.

Customizable Program Options

  • One-to-One Programs

    Areas of Instruction: Focus | ELA | Math | Transferable workplace skills (non-internship)

    Sessions:
    Twice-weekly for 45-minutes per session (12 total sessions)
    Once-weekly for 60-minutes per session (6 total sessions)
  • Small Group Classes

    Areas of Instruction: ELA or Math

    Sessions: Twice-weekly 45-minute sessions

    Setting: Small group class sizes (up to 4 students)
  • Social Pragmatics Class

    Area of Instruction: This class creates an inclusive space where students can practice real-life scenarios, build practical social skills, and gain tools to feel more comfortable and empowered in social situations. Whether a student has goals around making new friends, communicating with peers, or participating in group activities, this course helps students enhance their social skills in a way that’s engaging, affirming, and tailored to their unique needs.

    Sessions:
    Twice-weekly for 6 weeks, for 45 minute classes (12 total classes)

    Setting: Small group class size (4-8 students)
  • Internship (Returning Students Only)

    Students will attend their internship twice per week, with one 45 minute, in-person meeting with a member of the internship team at Winston Transitions New York for workplace development, feedback and support. 

    This program is offered to current Transitions students only.

  • When is the deadline to apply?

    Application Deadline: June 2, 2025
  • What materials do I need to submit?

    To complete the 2025 Summer Program application, please make sure you have the following documents ready to upload:
    • Your child's most recent report card
    • Educational evaluation (i.e., Psychoeducational Evaluation, IEP, etc.)
    • Recent photograph of your child
    Please Note: Current Transitions students do not need submit these documents.
     
    If an educational evaluation is not available, two teacher recommendations describing your child’s academic/learning/social profile are required. Please email those to wtsummerprogram@winstonprep.edu
  • Who teaches the summer program at Transitions?

    Winston Transitions Summer Program teachers primarily consist of reading specialists, special education instructors, learning specialists, and speech and language pathologists from our full-time faculty.
